The Residents Treasure Blowing Rocks Preserve, Jupiter Island

The barrier island of Bowling Rock Preserve is nestled between the scenic Indian River Lagoon and the magnificent Atlantic Ocean. The 73 acres spectacular preserve has survived complete destruction by a developer who was planning a high-density apartment project. However, it was the courageous residents of Jupiter Island who fought the City to deny the application. Their relentless fight persuaded the developer to discard the plans and eventually sell the land to residents. Residents of Jupiter Island generously donated the land to create what we know as the Blowing Rocks Preserve

The Park Is All About Water Sports and Hiking Trails

Exploring the Blow Rocks Preserve will bring you to a tunnel of beautiful seagrapes that is the entrance to one of the most unique beaches in Florida. After visiting countless wonderful beaches in Florida, we came across one unique beach that seems odd for the State. In general, we are used to distinguishing different beaches by the color of the sand and water. This formula does not work for Blowing Rocks Preserve where the rugged Anastasia limestone rocks hug the shoreline. The pictures of the beach look more like the shores in Main than coastal Florida.

Watersport Enthusiasts Put This Gem On Your Bucket List

Swimming – The blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean along this unique shoreline makes swimming an unforgettable experience on the beaches of the Blowing Rocks Preserve. A big cautionary note; there are no lifeguards on duty. Please keep this in mind especially if you are traveling with children

Snorkeling – The clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the undisturbed beach attracts many snorkelers to the area. Just err on the side of caution during the high tides and while swimming near rocks.

Participate in Blowing Rocks Preserve Project – A great way to share your experience with the scientific community. The process is simply accomplished by uploading your photos of plants and animals to an app, iNaturalist app
