Festival of Lights

Every year around the Christmas holidays with the help of over 3 million lights the City of St Augustine transfers to a magical Festival of Lights. The festivity starts on November 19th and continues through the end of January. Downtown St Augustine is the center of attraction with merchants competing on the lighting of the city’s nightline. This event, also known as Night of Lights, is considered one of the best Christmas light shows in the nation. The Festival of Lights attracts thousands of visitors annually from all over the nation and abroad.

Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park

Since 2,400 B.C. The Timucua Indians had thrived in an area covering Central Florida and southwest Georgia. This was prior to the European settlement on the East Coast of Florida. In 1513 the famous Spanish explorer Ponce De Leon arrived in one of Timucua Villages, Seloy, and named the area La Florida. The Seloy village was located in an area covering the Fountain of Youth and extended to the San Sebastian River.

Flagler College
Although the history of the college is not as old as some other establishments in St. Augustine. The building itself is another story. Flagler College was funded by Lawrence Lewis Jr. in 1968. With the idea of creating a liberal art college, Mr. Lewis Jr. relentlessly encouraged friends and families, as well as many foundations. Castillo De San Marcos Monument
Explore the history of Florida in this architectural marvel that had to withstand centuries of attempted seizing by Spanish, British forces, and many pirates. Castillo De San Marcos has the distinction of being the oldest masonry structure in the continent of the United States. It is one of the only two existing forts constructed with Coquina Limestone. The Castillo De San Marcos has amazingly served the military of different countries for 251 years till the US army deactivated the fort. The monument eventually became a part of the National Parks in 1924 and has been established as one of the main attractions for people visiting Florida.
